Underpowered Cranham lose friendly

Apr 20, 2008

A 10-man scratch Cranham side were well beaten by Marle Hill at a cold and misty Notgrove yesterday. Winning the toss, Cranham elected to bat first and were soon in trouble having lost openers Charlie Overs and Matt Smith to make it 22-2.

A 100-run stand, however, between skipper Nathan Moore (45) and Steve Walden (41) helped Cranham towards a competitive total before the latter was bowled by jaffa. However, there proved to be little support from the tail and Cranham were shot out for a below-par 134 inside 33 overs.

In reply Marle Hill made light work of the chase and cruised home with the loss of just two wickets (taken by James Job and Stephan Curry).

Despite the loss, this was useful preparation for the league campaign which gets underway at home to Bisley this Saturday.

Cranham 134 ao (N. Moore 45 S. Walden 41)
Marle Hill 135-2 (A. Phillips 60*, S. Brotherton 25)

Marle Hill beat Cranham by 8 wickets.

40% reduction on players subscriptions!

Apr 15, 2008

Members should be receiving their membership renewal packs over the next few weeks. The main change this year is the reduction in playing membership fees, which have seen a trend bucking downward spiral from £50 to £30.

This will be accompanied by an increase in match fees for league matches. This approach should be fairer on social players who only play a few games throughout the season and therefore see less return for their membership fee than those who play 2/3 times a weekend.

If you have not been a member before or have not yet received a form then please contact David Bonney to obtain a form.
