Tai Chi Chuan

The practice of Tai Chi Chuan is a sophisticated and scientifically proven method of self-preservation, which has deep roots in traditional Chinese history and culture. It is one of the best forms of exercise for health and longevity, which combines slow and graceful movements with deep regular breathing.

Tai Chi Chuan means “Grand Ultimate Fist,” and although being well known as one of the most popular ways of keeping fit, agile and healthy, it is without doubt a devastating martial art and a great way to defend yourself.

Originally founded by Zhang San Feng in the 16th Century, Tai Chi Chuan has undergone many changes according to different family traditions, the most popular being the Chen and Yang styles. At Dragonfly Martial Arts there are two main styles taught, the Yang style, which is great for health, fitness and basic introduction to martial applications, and the Wudang style, which delves deeper into the health and martial aspects.
